Web Radio in Crisis!
Reprint of article at SAVENETRADIO.ORG
URGENT URGENT URGENT
IMMEDIATE ACTION NEEDED FOR THURSDAY, JULY 12TH
Time and options are running out for Internet Radio. Late yesterday, the U.S. Court of Appeals DENIED the emergency stay sought on behalf of webcasters, millions of listeners and the artists and music they support.
UNLESS CONGRESS ACTS BY JULY 15th, it is the end of the road for Internet radio.
We are appealing to the millions of Internet radio listeners out there, the webcasters they support and the artists and labels we treasure to rise up and make your voices heard before this vibrant medium is silenced.
This situation is grave, but that makes the message all the simpler and most serious. CALL YOUR SENATORS AND REPRESENTATIVES RIGHT AWAY and urge them to support the "Internet Radio Equality Act." If they've already co-sponsored, thank them and tell them to fight to bring it to the floor for an immediate vote. If the line is busy, call back. Call until you know your voice has been heard. Your voices are what have gotten us this far -- Congress has listened. Now, they are our only hope.
TELL THEM.
We are outmatched by lobbying power and money but we are NOT outmatched by facts and passion and the power of our voices.

But late yesterday, Jon Simson, director of SoundExchange – the label-affiliated organization responsible for setting royalty rates – told Congress that the group would not enforce the new royalty rates and would continue to work on negotiating new rates with the Digital Media Association (DiMA), who are acting on behalf of webcasters. “This is definitely a step in the right direction,” Pandora founder Tim Westergren, told us this morning. “At this point, provided there’s good-faith negotiations, they’re not going to go after people.”

I have fantastic news today! Internet Radio will NOT go off the air this Sunday!
This is thanks to you great people. You voiced your opinion to Congress. The email's flooded their servers, and phones rang off
the hook. They realized that there is a serious problem with the recent CRB ruling, and under pressure from you, acted.
A meeting between Webcasters and Sound Exchange was called on Thursday by Rep. Ed Markey of the House Commerce
Committee and were told to formulate a workable solution.
As it currently stands July 15th will NOT be the last day of Internet Radio, in fact we now have time to formulate a workable
solution with Sound Exchange.
Keep in mind that there is NOTHING IN WRITING at this point so don't put those protest banners and emails away just
yet. Until something concrete is established, we are not totally out of the woods.
I would advise you to continue calling your representatives and emailing them expressing your opinion about the necessity of
Internet Radio and the diversity and exposure it brings to Listeners and Artists.
Urge them to support the Internet Radio Equality Act, H.R. 2060 or Senate version S. 1353.
We currently have 134 Supporters in Congress. Let's go get 84 more while we have the momentum!

Independent musicians & songwriters need your help to get heard. Wouldn't it be a boring world if all the songs were the same? But artists like Noel Lorica face an uphill battle. Most radio stations & record companies have a set lineup & are reluctant to give new artists a chance. But you can help.
